5 Top Movies of Tom Hanks
Hey ! This is Esar
Tom hanks is a big actor in Hollywood, but in my opinion, he's the best actor in Hollywood. I think he deserve more Oscar than just two.
The question you may ask is: why top 5 movies? why not top 10, top 15, or top 10.0000 ?
If you're a fan of Tom Hanks, you may ask more, but if you're not, this is sufficient. Yeah, this list is for people who know little or not at all about Tom Hanks.
So here's the movie list of Tom Hanks that i think is the 5 top movies of his carrer:
5. Cast Away
This movie is very sadA FedEx workaholic named Chuck (Tom Hanks) who travels around the countries stranded on a little unknown island due to plane accident. During the time on the island, he works hard to get help and survive, then he calculate mathematically that he will not be found by any rescuer, except he's willing to stay for tens of years. Year after year he tries to survive and until he decide to sail through the ocean no matter what. He dramatically escapes the island until four years of surviving.
What's interesting about the movie:
- Chuck has an only friend in the island, not a human, not an animal or rock, but a volleyball which he names it Wilson. He got the ball from the stranded shipment of the airplane along with another item.
- 1 hour scene of Chuck in the island try to eat and live in the island, that's interesting, somehow makes us to think what to do when we get the same incident. lol.
- Inspiring scene about how he make and calculate a work schedule to build a raft to escape the island.
- Dramatic and tearing scene when Chuck loses his friend Wilson and cried when he try to survive in the high sea.
- Dramatic scene when Chuck meets his girlfriend Hellen, and finds that she's already married.
Genre : Survival, Drama
4. You've Got Mail (1998)
Someone you pass on the street may already be the love of your lifeThis movie tells about a businessman who has an affair with his own competitor in the book business through online chatting or mail. But they never know each other until they found out that they're in the book business competition. That's what interesting from this movie, sounds lame but interesting when you watch it. It's romantic comedy movie.
Tom Hanks as Joe Fox
Meg Ryan as Kathleen Kelly
Fox and Kelley:
" I hear nothing, not even a sound on the streets of New York, just the beat of my heart... "
Dave Chappele:
" I always take a relationship to the next level, if that works out, i take it to the next level after that till i reach that level where it becomes absolutely necessary for me to leave "
I know this last one sounds jerk, but somehow it worth to think though lol.
3. Big (1988)
All of 13-year old boy wants is a 13-year old girlNah, this is not for-kids-movie, instead for very adult person who has a very young fantasy.

2. Forrest Gump (1994)
Such inspiring movie !Genre : Drama, Romantic, Comedy
I didn't know what kinda movie is this when i watched it for the first time. Its first scene portrays a strange guy sitting in the chair beside the road with a box of chocolate, talking with other strangers that are sitting with him. The strangers come in and come out as time goes by, but he's keep talking with every person that is sitting next beside him. The movie tells about a retard man with sincere & kind heart and amazing athletic ability who influences some big and important events in United States. Everytime he tell the story, the movie take us to the related scene. The next thing you know is he's sitting not to wait anything or anybody, he just get stuck on the address that he's looking for to meet a woman. Then at almost the end of the film, the old lady that's sitting beside him told him the exact place. And the movie goes on.
Why is the movie so great :
- Showing people that IQ or lowness level of intellectual doesn't affect one's success.
- Its humorous plot but still give a powerful message.
- Tom hanks plays his role so well as an idiotic man, that's why he receive an Oscar as the best actor.
- Its distinct scenes make this movie unpredictable and fun to watch.
- He has a crush on his best friend named Jenny whom he met on the school bus when he was in elementary school, and never has an love affair to anybody else except for this woman, until she's dead. So lame i know, but you'll like it.
Favorite quotes :
"stupid is as stupid does"
A
lot of people asking what does it mean, for me it means that people
can't be called stupid if they didn't do stupid thing, whereas smart
people is stupid if they do stupid thing.
1. Philadelphia (1993)
I think every law student should watch this movie.
Genre: Drama
Tom
hanks' oscars for this top two movies did not influence my list in any
way. The film is very great and based on true story that tells about an attorney who is
fired because of his illnes and sexual orientation.
Flash Synopsis
Andrew
Beckett (Tom Hanks) is an lawyer in the well-known law firm in Philadelphia, he is
fired from his law firm due to his illness (AIDS) and then sues the firm
for injustice with the help of his lawyer Joe Miller (Denzel
Washington). But in court, the head firm (Wyant
Wheeler) clarify that his illness is not the reason for him being fired,
instead of his bad performance on the job especially on the last and
very important case that he's been given to.
In
the middle of the trial, Andy collapses and taken to hospital. In the
end, Juries decide that andy wins the court, but he died right after
that.
I recall the very logical and ultimate reason why andy should win based on the juries:
" Say
i gotta send a pilot into enemy territory and he's gonna be flyin' a
plane that costs $350 million. Who am i gonna put in that plane? Some
rookie who can't cut it so i can see if he is up to the challenge? Or am
i gonna give that assignment to my best pilot, my sharpest, my most
experienced, my top gun, the very best i got? i just don't get that.
Would somebody please explain it to me like i'm a six-year-old? "
Andy was given a very important case, why the head firm would such a fool to give that case to Andy knowing he's incompetent ? The point is, the head firm is very embarrassed and disgusted that they had a gay and has aids in their law firm.
But the law's being broken, because he's able to do his job well and won many cases for the firm.
Why the movie is great?
-
Represent the gay world and why they should be treated like other
human. I'm not defending gay plague, but i defend for the fact that they
are human same like us.
-
Denzel Washington's great and fantastic arguments in the court and the
scene portray him carry the mirror to Andrew Beckett is genius in my
opinion.
Great quotes :
Journalis : But you are gay, aren't you ?
Andrew : I don't see how that's any of your business. But, yes, I am ! (this one makes me laugh tho)
Andrew :
"What i love about the law is every now and again.... not often, but occasionally, you get to be a part of justice being done"
Joe (Andrew's lawyer):
"Explain it to me like i'm a five years old okay ..."
So that's it for Tom Hanks' 5 best movies,
Salam damai
